Don’t give it a second thought- visit NZ and sign up for a Haka Tour!!! I just got back from the South Island Haka tour and definitely have to say it was one of the best vacations ever. Our tour guide, Baby J, was incredibly chill and organized. The trip was entirely stress free and fun. Every city we visited was amazing, scenery was unbeatable, accommodations were clean and nice, and I made life long friends that I hope to travel with again in the futures. I highly recommend Haka tours! Worth every penny! Great for solo travelers (that was me!).

My first solo trip was memorable thanks to haka tours. I went on the 16 day amplified tour with guide Baby J aka Andy. The inclusions were action packed from hiking to just chilling carving a jade pendant (actually a bit of a highlight). I didn’t do a lot of add ons due to money constraints but I felt like the tour still had a bunch to do. Or you could relax like I did in the South Island when I needed a rest. The guide, Andy had a passion for his country and his culture, which made the experience authentic. He really took the time to answer our questions about NZ. Foodwise, yes you will have to fend at lunch and dinner, but the towns have a lot of food options depending on your budget. Andy was quick to point out what attractions there were at each town and where to eat. Keeping restaurants out to optional choices, but I would recommend tour gang dinners- lots of fun and get to know each other. Other than that, there’s always a supermarket if you want to cook in- do a mix. Look forward to the Maori village, it’s great to spend time with the family and learn the haka and eat the hangi. Some issues were more with the itinerary description. The end dates confused a lot of people booking flights home, but we’ve been told that this will effectively change due to complaints. Please clarify dates AND times because you’ll want to get it right. Also be aware that add ons can get cancelled due to weather, but safety first. The refund will be added to the tab and yes you can add activities along the way if you weren’t so sure when you book the tour.

My husband and I really enjoyed our tour from Auckland to Wellington. We loved meeting and getting to know the others on the tour and felt that our tour guide Ruth did a great job of treating us all like a family. We got to see so many attractions and the beautiful NZ countryside, but one of our favorite parts was the cultural experience where we learned more about the Maori people. It added so much to our trip and made it feel like more than just another tour.

Loved this tour!! I had a brilliant snow tour with Haka. NZ is completely phenomenal and Haka fully exposed me to all of its beauty. I loved the variety of mountains and the knowledge that was provided about each and every one. Haka went above and beyond to ensure my accommodation needs were met. Thank you for an excellent tour!! I’ll be back for sure!!

Would highly recommend this tour. I had an amazing time on this tour. Ruth was a fantastic guide. Her driving felt really safe. I get really travel sick and need to stop a lot which can make things feel awkward but she organised the driving so well so that there were frequent photo, toilet, super market shopping and lunch stops that made the travel part (which I normally dread) enjoyable. We had a big mix of ages 19-40, everyone got along really well. My highlights were Franz Josef ice climbing, the glow worm tubing and cave tour and kayaking in Abel Tasman, a group of playful seal pups came up to us. The breakfast selection was great.

I was on tour with Benny and only joined it last minute with my sister. I'm so glad I did! I had such an amazing time with a great group and Benny made it so much fun for everyone. He put in the extra effort to celebrate one of the girls on tours birthdays and it was one of my favorite nights on tour! Of course I highly recommend Haka Tours and Benny for anyone who would like to explore New Zealand!

When I signed up for the tour I was a bit anxious as I’m definitely not an athletic type, more a flatland walker especially as I creep up in age. But I didn’t need to worry. I avoided the extreme options sticking to boating, a skydive and the many included hikes and optional places to visit (Hobbiton, hotsprings etc). It really was an incredible experience. There are so many choices it doesn’t matter if you avoid the extreme choices. The people on the tour (mostly 20’s-30’s) plus a few 40’s-60’s were all incredibly supportive of each other with over half coming from European counties. Language wasn’t a barrier as everyone spoke English. Either we cooked together or individually or went to local eating places. Baby Jesus was great at getting us to food stores everyday it seemed (with great selection of wines). Everyday was an adventure in experiencing new vistas (NZ is simply gorgeous). Jesus was a great influence keeping us excited about every place even when when we had the occasional downpour. I don’t know if I just lucked out with such a great tour guide and fellow mates but I do know this trip was one of the best I’ve been on. I did pay extra for a single room and given the 4 in a room was tight in some places, I was REALLY happy I made that decision. In most places my solo room was like staying in a hotel minus room service. I just got back from a luxury European river cruise and I was disappointed. It was nice but boring. Give me a Haka tour any day. As long as you’re in fairly good shape.. can walk a few miles a day easily and deal with some slope you should be fine. You don’t need to be a jock or be young to have fun on this tour.

Best Tour Ever! Did the Amplified NZ Tour from Auckland to Christchurch with the famous Baby Jesus (Andy). It was an amazing experience from front to back, enabled by the flexibility and experience of Baby Jesus advising on where and when to do activities. Our tour members were also great, and hostel living is no worse than you'd expect. Would absolutely recommend this as a great way to see and experience New Zealand quickly!
